Face Shopping 시리즈 : 솔기seam 드러내기
AI가 생성한 존재하지 않는 가상의 인물 사진은 스크린에서 놀라운 실감을 드러낸다. 사진 스톡 사이트에서는 수만 가지의 인물 사진을 제공하는데 외모 선택사항이 매우 다양하다. 얼굴 포즈, 성별, 나이, 인종, 눈동자 색상, 머리카락 색상, 머리카락 길이, 감정 표현 등을 선택할 수 있다. 사이트의 2,685,868장의 인물 사진 중에는 각각의 선택사항이 적용됨에도 불구하고 모호한 경계의 사진을 찾을 수 있다. 미소와 무표정 사이, 남성과 여성 사이, 타인과 형제 사이. 스톡 사이트에서 제공되는 사진은 이미 수많은 사진 광고에 활용되고 있고 나아가 딥페이크 기술의 접목을 통해 방송 영상업에도 주목되는 기술로 떠오르고 있다. 불쾌한 골짜기가 과거로 소멸되면서, Seamless 테크놀로지의 seam을 드러내는 유일한 방법은 장치를 드러내는 전략이다. 소프트웨어로 구축된 빅데이터와 하드웨어의 컴퓨팅 파워가 생성한 결과물을 네트워크로 수신받는다. 최종 수신지로서의 개인 유저의 디바이스는 마지막 구현 output 장치가 된다. 스마트폰에 나타난 인물 사진들을 크게 접사 촬영은 그들의 피부가 빨강, 초록, 파랑으로 드러나고 있음을 새삼 귓속말 해준다. 이어지는 귓속말은 또 다른 가능성을 들려준다. 포토 스톡 사이트가 생물학적 아기의 외모, 성향을 결정짓는 미래의 출산 상담 소프트웨어를 닮았다는 가능성. 귓속말은 이어진다.
